Bringing the entire family out for a meal is not easy.
If there’s elderly folks, the place should be quiet and comfortable enough, and if there are kids, a spacious area would be good for them to run around in, with and attractions to keep them entertained.
So where’s actually good?
We’ve handpicked 9 family friendly restaurants where the little ones will be kept thoroughly entertained, while you can dine in peace, and still keep an eye on them at the same time!
1. Duck Parade humour: Centropunto Resto
Located in the heart of Bandung, near Factory Outlets and several parks, Centropunto is the perfect place for you and your family to dine at.

And what’s special here? A Duck Parade Show.
Yes, you’ve read correctly. There’s a Duck Parade Show every Saturday and Sunday at 9am to 3pm.

The ducks will parade around and waddle into the restaurant down a red carpet that’s been prepared specially for them.
Sometimes the ducks even wear colorful ties!
After the parade, they will queue in a line and wait for their chance to make a splash into the pool. This will surely entertain your kids while you’re having lunch.
Centropunto has a Cooking Class for kids every Sunday (you have to make a reservation first), and the chef will teach the kids how to make Cupcakes, Takoyaki, and many more.

As for the food, you can try its buffet menu. If you’re lucky, you’ll get Baso Tahu (highly recommended), or Baso Malang as a few of the side dishes.

While you are there, try the Nachos for a start – we’ll say it’s one of the best in Bandung.

Burgundy is divided into 2 areas – indoors and outdoors.
The indoor area is a vintage house that hasn’t been altered much from its original design – a leftover from the Colonial era in Bandung.

You can sit there and enjoy your steak while imagining that you’re living in the golden era.

The outdoor area has a breathtaking view, and if you’re lucky, you will be able to see dewy trees from above, and in the sunlight, you’ll be able to see gleaming views of the city.

Better yet for all parents – it’s a treehouse with a cafe where you can sit down and relax in a cosy corner, either indoors or outdoors, while the kids are kept perfectly safe, busy, and happy clamouring around their actual tree house.

This cafe even has a mini flying fox, so don’t worry if your hyperactive kids are bored by the treehouse!

Here, the specialty meal is also a kid’s favourite – sausages. Parents will approve of it too, as they are healthy homemade sausages with no artificial flavoring – just like this Big Banger Sausage (30cm long!) which is served with vegetables.

8. Dine in a birdcage, by the lake and go camping: Dusun Bambu
You might have heard about Dusun Bambu.
It’s probably one of the most talked-about venue in Bandung. Why? Because not only are there tons of recreational activities you can do there, but it has three amazing restaurants where you can dine at with the most gorgeous views.

Located in Lembang, around 45 minutes’ drive from Bandung, Dusun Bambu has a mountain view cafe called Burangrang, a birdcage restaurant called Lutung Kasarung and this Sundanese resto called Purbasari, where you can dine by the lake.
If you’re into well-designed cafés and want to enjoy views of the Burangrang mountain, together with both Western and Indonesian cuisine, Burangrang is perfect for you.

When it’s getting dark, a torch will warm up the café and give some spark to your dinner area.
You can also choose to dine in a gigantic bird cage positioned on the top of tree (you don’t have to climb, and it’s actually easy for you to reach) at Lutung Kasarung. To rent Lutung Kasarung you have to pay around IDR 100,000 (less than USD $10).

And if you’re into good quality Sundanese Food, why don’t you try Saung Purbasari, where you can have lunch at a traditional house located right by the lake.

If you just want to get some snacks like Siomay, Baso (meat ball), Dimsum, Mie Godhok (Javanese Noodle), Sate Ayu (Javanese Skewers) etc, do drop by Pasar Khatulistiwa. You can also buy fresh vegetables and fruit there.

And we’ll tell you why Dusun Bambu is perfect for your family – there’s various outdoor activities for children, such as horseback riding, archery, riding becak (Indonesian rickshaw) and many more.

And guess what? You can also go camping there – now that makes your family getaway complete.

9. Vintage dining and good food: Waroeng Ethnic
This restaurant is in the same neighborhood as Miss Bee. Also located around an exclusive area in Bandung and built in a vintage house, you will feel warm and welcome when you step in through the door.
Kids will love the mini playground and the pool. The pool is actually not for swimming, but doesn’t have fish too, so the children can always just play with the water – don’t they just love doing that?

Waroeng Ethnic is a restaurant that puts a lot of thought into the food they serve. Personally, I have come several times and the food has never failed me – regardless of whether it’s Western or Indonesian cuisine, they’re all great.
